The Rest of the Week
Hiking (bushwhacking) up the barranca (gully) to a dry waterfall.
Most pine trees in the area have been cut to collect sap.
The nearby town of Zarzamora. We purchased some homemade membrillo (quince) liqueur, and explored the cemetery and Day of the Dead decorations. The cemetery gate was stuffed with fliers from a local doctor warning about prostate issues.
An evening in the woods, by the campfire, drinking our membrillo liqueur, which had a curious sour taste.
Our last day at Rancho Madroño.
I tried to take some repeat photos of places I'd photographed in years past.
We used a totem pole as a template to make papier mache masks.
One more walk over to Yotatiro, to buy some basic groceries: eggs, cheese, and tortillas.
The tortillas were home-made daily by an old woman cooking them over a wood stove in her extremely smoky kitchen. How a chimney would help!
A basketball game. Basketball is very popular.
