Magic Carpet Ride

Since 2003, I've run an electric scooter that I've turned into a "flying" magic carpet ride. It's built around a Badsey EMX Racer electric scooter from the late 1990's. These photos are from version 2.0, built for Burning Man 2006:
The magic carpet ride's major issues have been:
- The chain gets gunked-up with playa dust (and quickly stretches with wear)
- Insufficient rigidity/strength of the carpet platform
- Burnt-out motor (I accidentally applied full throttle at low speed in soft playa just when the rear tire went flat).
Access to a decent-sized generator for overnight charging is also needed.
