Traveling

We drove the Bruce Highway to reach our port in Shute Harbour    -19.7455, 147.4957  On the way, we took a quick detour and drove the steep & narrow (but paved) road up Mt. Inkerman to see a fantastic view.    -19.7455, 147.4957 

Boats took us between the islands of the Whitsundays, and out to the reef.

Long Island

We stayed at the Long Island Resort .    -20.3328, 148.8417 

There were a remarkable number of interesting creatures wandering around the resort, mostly in search of snacks.

We all wore full-body "stinger suits" while swimming to avoid any potential contact with jellyfish.

Lyra

Great Barrier Reef

Ready in our stinger suits! Lyra almost made it into the water for some snorkeling.

Snorkeling. In addition to colorful fish and corals, we spotted huge beautiful clams.

Whitehaven Beach

Playing on fine white sand; wading in clear blue waters swimming with rays (wearing our sexy stinger suits). Good thing this beach is five miles long — to disperse the boatloads of tourists!    -20.2840, 149.0402
