Seattle Before & After: Details

The historical images on these pages (the black & white ones dated before 2008) were derived from two sources. Most of them started as snapshot copies (taken on-site using my camera) of the photo thumbnails taped to the King County Tax Assessor records at the Puget Sound Regional Archives . A few images are from the online photo collection at the Seattle Municipal Archives . My copies of these images were then rotated, cropped, and sometimes stretched somewhat for a better aligned comparison match.

Another useful resource at the Puget Sound Regional Archives are Seattle City Directories, which from 1938 until 1994 included a reverse directory which you can use to look up the resident and phone number at any street address.
