Rincon de los Guayabitos — Town
Cross on the hill
Evening. Ran into town for tacos, came back with bags of pelliscadas — Mexican pizzas!
Mexican microwave has very specific local food presets
Drinks & pig game
Boat ride — Looking for whales.
Our first stop was for lunch in Chacala
Las Cuevas (Caves). The brave tried snorkeling here, but the water was to silty for good visibility. We did encounter a mermaid, who swam to us and wanted a lift on our boat.
Our last stop was Isla la Peña, the island just a mile offshore from Rincon de los Guyabitos. Again, the water was too silty for snorkeling.
Back at Villa Corona del Mar — Preparing for Erika's birthday!
Dinner & dancing at an open-air restaurant up on the hill with a fantastic view of Rincon de los Guayabits
Masks, piñata, and cake
Road trip to San Blas in a taxi
A stop for late snacks at Las Islitas. Street vendors sold grilled fish & crayfish, sweet things, and ...bug repellent!
Late lunch at the beach at Las Islitas. A great relaxing spot, except for the horrible swarms of painful biting gnats called jejenes
.
We soon realized why the restaurants where burning coconut shells next to the tables.
Sunset in San Blas — more jejenes!
A fantastic week!
